4 medium apples (peeled and cut into small cubes)
3 tablespoons butter
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the cake batter:
1/2 cup (115 g) butter, softened
1/2 cup (100 g) sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup (125 g) all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
A pinch of salt
2 tablespoons milk
🍰 Instructions
- Prepare the apples:
In a pan, melt the butter over medium heat.
Add the apple cubes, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
Cook for about 8–10 minutes, stirring until the apples are soft and caramelized.
Add vanilla and mix well. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
- Prepare the cake batter:
In a bowl, beat the butter and sugar until creamy.
Add the eggs one by one, mixing well after each.
Add vanilla, then sift in the flour, baking powder, and salt.
Add milk and mix until you get a smooth batter.
- Assemble:
Pour half of the batter into a greased and floured baking pan.
Spread the caramelized apples evenly on top.
Add the rest of the batter over the apples (optional if you prefer an open-top look).
- Bake:
Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for about 35–40 minutes or until golden brown.
Let it cool a bit before serving.
- Optional glaze:
Brush the top with a bit of warm apricot jam or honey for a shiny finish.
