Hasselback Baked Potatoes

4 large potatoes

3 tablespoons olive oil or melted butter

2 cloves garlic, minced

Salt and black pepper (to taste)

1 teaspoon dried oregano or thyme

Grated cheese (mozzarella or cheddar)

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (390°F). Get ready — the magic starts now!
  2. Prepare the potatoes:
    Wash the potatoes well, then slice them thinly — but not all the way down!
    You want them to open like a beautiful fan while staying connected at the bottom.
  3. Flavor time!
    In a small bowl, mix olive oil (or butter) with minced garlic, salt, pepper, and oregano.
    Brush this mixture generously over the potatoes, making sure it gets inside the slices.
  4. Into the oven they go:
    Place the potatoes on a baking tray and bake for about 45–55 minutes, until they turn golden, crispy on the outside, and tender inside.
  5. Cheese moment!
    Take the potatoes out, sprinkle lots of grated cheese on top, and return them to the oven for 5–7 minutes until the cheese melts and turns slightly golden.
  6. Final touch
