Ingredients:
1 cup water
1/2 cup unsalted butter (1 stick)
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
4 large eggs
Powdered sugar (for dusting)
For the filling (cream):
2 cups heavy whipping cream
1/4 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
- Prepare the choux pastry:
In a saucepan, bring the water, butter, and salt to a boil.
Add the flour all at once and stir vigorously until the mixture forms a ball and pulls away from the sides of the pan.
Remove from heat and let it cool for 5 minutes.
- Add the eggs:
Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition until the dough is smooth and glossy.
- Bake:
Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F).
Drop spoonfuls of dough (or pipe them with a piping bag) onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown and puffed.
Remove from the oven and let cool completely.
- Prepare the filling:
In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
- Assemble:
Cut each puff in half horizontally.
Fill the inside with whipped cream using a piping bag.
Place the top back on and dust with powdered sugar.
