Chocolate Oat Bars
Ingredients:
3 cups rolled oats
1 cup unsalted butter
1 cup brown sugar
½ cup honey or maple syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup chocolate chips (milk or dark)
½ cup peanut butter (optional but delicious)
A pinch of salt
Instructions:
- Prepare the base:
In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter, brown sugar, and honey together. Stir well until the mixture becomes smooth and slightly thickened. Add the vanilla extract. - Add the oats:
Stir in the rolled oats and mix until they are fully coated with the sweet mixture. - Create the layers:
Press half of the oat mixture firmly into the bottom of a lined baking pan. - Make the chocolate filling:
In a small saucepan (or microwave-safe bowl), melt the chocolate chips with the peanut butter until smooth. - Assemble:
Pour the chocolate mixture over the oat layer, then spread the remaining oats on top and press gently. - Chill:
Refrigerate for about 2–3 hours or until the bars are firm. - Serve:
Cut into squares and enjoy your chewy, chocolatey oat bars!
